Is Squad Affiliate free?
Yes. The free plugin runs a complete affiliate programme — unlimited affiliates, first-party tracking, rule-based commissions, the affiliate portal, and manual, store-credit and bank-transfer payouts — across all 9 integrations, with no cap on affiliates or referrals. Pro adds the differentiators, not the basics.
Is it self-hosted?
Entirely. Affiliates, referrals, commissions and payouts live in your own database, on your own site. There is no SaaS platform in the middle, no per-sale cut, and no monthly fee that scales with how well your programme does.
Does it use third-party cookies?
No. Attribution is first-party, so referrals keep being credited when a browser or an ad blocker strips third-party scripts — which is most of them now.
How do affiliates get credited for a sale?
Three routes, and you can use all of them at once: a referral link, a coupon code tied to an affiliate, or a customer already bound to the affiliate who first referred them. The visit is recorded first-party, and the commission is calculated when the order completes.
Can affiliates be paid for leads rather than sales?
Yes. A form submission can create a referral you approve and pay, which is what a programme selling on a call needs.
Do I need WooCommerce?
No. WooCommerce is one of 9 integrations — Easy Digital Downloads, SureCart, MemberPress, Paid Memberships Pro, LifterLMS, LearnDash, GiveWP and form lead tracking are the others. The plugin also runs standalone, crediting referrals you record yourself through the REST API.
